Children’s Ministry
Our Children’s Ministry exists for the glory of God.
It is, therefore, our desire to honor the Lord in the way we minister to the children God has given to our covenant community. And this means our ministry is to come alongside the nurturing God has ordained as the role of parents.
Give ear, O my people, to my law;
Incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
I will utter dark sayings of old,
Which we have heard and known and our fathers have told us.
We will not hide them from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord,
And His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.
For He established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers, that they should
make them known to their children;
That the generation to come might know them,
The children who would be born,
that they may arise and declare them to their children.
Psalm 78:1-6
Put simply, our goal is to instill in the generation to come a love for the Lord. Our strategy is live a testimony before our children of love for the Lord and declare to them His praises which we see in Scripture and in our own lives. The knowledge of God must be seen in us (our testimony) and heard from us (our teaching).
While our testimony to our children occurs in all of the church’s time together (before, during and after classes, services, fellowship times, etc), there are some specific times of structured declaration of God’s praises to our children. We are blessed with wonderful, loving and gifted teachers who teach to deposit a love for God in the hearts of our children. These particular ministries are:
Sunday School
Our Sunday School ministry uses the Show Me Jesus curriculum from Great Commission Publishers for its emphasis on teaching children about God in all the Scriptures.
There are several graded classes: 2’s &3’s, 4’s & 5’s, Kindergarten, 1-2nd Grade, 3-4th Grade, 5-6th Grade.
Children’s Church
Toddler Church
Our Toddler Church class is for 2 & 3 year-olds and meets in the same room as the 2’s & 3’s Sunday School room. They use the Hands On Bible curriculum from Group Publishers introducing the children to basic concepts of God and His nature and His work.
Kinder Church
The Kinder Church class is for 4 year-olds to Kindergarteners and meets in the Kindergarten Sunday School room (just across the hall for the 4 year-olds. They use the off-year of Show Me Jesus’ 2-year curriculum for preschoolers.
Junior Church
The Jr. Church group is for children in grades 1-4 and is offered each Sunday of the month except for the first Sunday which is “family Sunday” (and also when we observe the Lord’s Supper). Children worship with their families until they are dismissed to the fellowship hall where they are taught from Group’s FaithWeaver Bible curriculum. FaithWeaver focuses on God’s Work in the Old & New Testaments chronologically.
R.O.C.
(Resting on Christ)
Our R.O.C. ministry is a ministry to children ages 3 through 6th grade. It’s a club-like program focused on knowing and walking with God. Please click Resting On Christ Ministry for more information on this ministry.
