Our Youth Ministry exists to bring GLORY TO GOD by WINNING lost students to Christ, BUILDING believing students in Christ & equipping them to SERVE for Christ in their lost world. This means we promote God’s design for parents to be the primary disciplers of their own children and come along side them as members of the body of Christ. We also minister to teens whose parents are not believers.
THE GLORY OF GOD
Every activity of our youth ministry is aimed at bringing glory to our God whose “kingdom rules over all” (Ps. 103:19). Every aspect of our lives is an opportunity to bring God glory. So, whether we’re studying His Word or hiking in His creation or playing soccer in the gym we remember that it’s all for God’s glory.
WINNING ~ BUILDING ~ SERVING
The way God’s people bring Him glory is by loving Him. Our love is seen in our obedience to His Word. God’s commands to the church can be summarized into three categories:
- Winning to Christ– we do this as Christ’s love compels us to bring the message of salvation through Jesus Christ to those who don’t know the Savior.
- Building in Christ– we do this by bringing God’s Word into every facet of lives through Sunday School, youth group, camp, our Winter Youth Conference and every conversation we have.
- Serving for Christ– we do this by providing lots of opportunities from mission trips to raking leaves to offering parents free childcare for a night out. We love to serve for God’s kingdom and we love serving together.
THE FAMILY
We’re a part of the covenant community of our church and our fellowship is a fellowship of families. We want to really know each another and really help each other grow in our love for God together. After youth meetings it’s normal for all of our families to mingle together and for parents to join the soccer game in the gym. The body of Christ is a panorama of ages, relationships and of spiritual maturity. Having people around who are, shall we say, “different” isn’t a drag- we love it! It’s like family. Check out Ephesians 4:16- this verse is what we’re trying to live.
THE ATMOSPHERE
We’re serious about the Lord and serious about enjoying the abundant life He’s given to us. This is what we’d love people to say about our youth group after a visit:
“Jesus, Jesus, Jesus! Everything was about Jesus. Those people are freaks about Jesus!”
We aim to be CHRIST CENTERED~ that HE may have the preeminence.
“Those people really LOVED each other. That was kind of weird.”
We aim to genuinely LOVE~ in word and deed
“From the moment I walked in to the time I left they were all nice to me. I’m going back to see if it was real.”
We aim to be WELCOMING and ACCEPTING~ kindly affectionate and giving preference
“I’ve never seen so many people who are so different from each other actually like each other!”
We aim to be excited about our differences~ UNITED in our DIVERSITY
“Those people were so happy it was weird”
We aim to have a real JOY that withstands life’s heartaches~ “Happy are the people whose God is the LORD!”
